Maybe there are things you find a lot more interesting than dating. Maybe you don't want to be in a relationship at all. If you really think about it, the longest relationship you're going to have is with yourself, so when it comes to relationships with guys, you need to make the rules that work for you. Having it all means having your soul, not just having a soul mate. Of course, to get to know yourself could take years. That's why I believe it's probably safer - and smarter - to put off a serious relationship until you know yourself really well. The problem is, eventually the real you will come roaring out, and the guy will run screaming from the room because you're not who he thought you were at all really. It was kind of fun but also pretty exhausting having to be someone new for each guy. I've learned to scuba dive, play polo, and fly a small plane all in the name of love. In the space of one year I was a downtown punk, an aerobics gym rat, and an Upper East Side society girl. All through my teens and twenties, I tried on guys the way I tried on clothes, and with each new guy I met, my persona would change.
